Elizabeth Niarchos Neukirch is a Greek American writer exploring the intersections of modern life and Greek myths, folktales and women’s oral histories. She believes in the lasting power of a well-told story, especially those from women traditionally excluded from the historic record.
A Tin House Summer Workshop alumna, Elizabeth was awarded two individual artist grants from the Illinois Arts Council Agency and has been an artist-in-residence at Ragdale, Vermont Studio Center, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her fiction has appeared in The Sunlight Press and Mississippi Review, where she was a Fiction Prize finalist. Her essays and arts criticism have appeared in Newcity magazine, the Chicago Review of Books, Third Coast Review, Take ONE Magazine and The MidWeek. Elizabeth holds a BA from WashU, where she was a Howard Nemerov Writing Scholar, and serves on the board of Stories Matter Foundation. She is working on her first novel: a Greek American immigrant story narrated by a chorus of opinionated village women, woven with folktales, magical realism and the history of a Greek revolutionary heroine.
Elizabeth is represented by Emily Forland at Brandt & Hochman Literary Agents.
Elizabeth is also a public relations and communications consultant for arts, nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. For information about Elizabeth Neukirch PR Consulting, visit this LinkedIn page.
