Elizabeth Niarchos Neukirch is a Greek American writer exploring the resonance of Greek mythology and history in modern women’s lives. She believes in the lasting power of oral histories and folktales passed down through generations.
A Tin House Summer Workshop alumna, Elizabeth was awarded two individual artist grants from the Illinois Arts Council Agency and artist residencies at Ragdale, Vermont Studio Center, and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her poem "Lake Myth" currently appears on a bus in Racine, Wisconsin as a winner of the 2026 Bus Poems contest. Elizabeth's essays and literary criticism have appeared in Real Simple, Newcity, the Chicago Review of Books, Third Coast Review, Take ONE Magazine and The MidWeek. Her fiction has appeared in The Sunlight Press and Mississippi Review, where she was a Fiction Prize finalist. She holds a BA from WashU, where she was a Howard Nemerov Writing Scholar, and serves on the board of Stories Matter Foundation.
Elizabeth is currently working on a speculative novel about issues in women's healthcare, which incorporates Greek mythology and feminist body horror. She is represented by Emily Forland at Brandt & Hochman Literary Agents.
